I ended up here because i am currently giving my kids ( 2 ) mum 600 pounds per month for child maintenance and was wondering if its enough bearing in mind that i have them 2-3 days per week, expenses which also falls on me each week.

It’s probably too much unless you’re a very big earner - maintenance is reduced if you have the kids overnight (until it’s zero if you have them 50/50)

Use the CMS calculator to double check.

Are your children in nursery or wrap around care while their mum works? Do you have them at the weekends?

Check the CMS calculator above but also check what nursery charges are being paid. It shouldn't be too hard to find out.

My youngest 2 goes to nursery 3 days per week 2 of which the mum works and yes I have them on the weekend

Nursery costs could easily be 800 a month, so from that point of view it doesn't seem particularly high.

@SallySunrise is right. Three days in nursery could be £200 a week or £800 a month, depending where you live. So your half of that would be £400.

Then half of the cost of food/clothes/shoes/books etc for both, and any wrap-around care for the older one if in school.

Can't you just ask their mum what their costs are?

she is not very clear when it comes on to finances. I have asked many times. The cost for nursery is 350 per month as she gets 60% reduction of the overall cost
