that I'm being a bit blase about getting working tax credits and child tax credits. Have got two weeks to go before dd and I move into my flat and I am officially a single parent (am counting the hours, let alone the days, until we get away from useless waste of space exp) but I just assumed I'd get wtc and ctc as I work over 16 hours a week, but I work freelance and am paid by commission, so it suddenly hit me that it's not going to be a straightforward claim. Anyone been in the same situation?

not in same situation but I work at tc office. All you haveto do is average the hours you work over the year . As for earnings, you can give an estimate until after the year end and then give us a definite figure with your renewal. The only thing I would say is try to be as close as you can possibly be with the est, if you end up earning a lot more than the est we have you'll end up with an overpayment

My claim didn't seem straight forward as I work irregular hours. I was struggling to fill out the form so I phoned up and she did it over the phone. They went mostly on last years earnings and were happy to work on the average for the year. Other wise I would have had to change my claim every week.

So it wasn't that bad. Be prepared for a delay in getting the money it does take a while to process.
