Rat in bedroom so stressed

That's all really. I knew we had one or more in the kitchen as I could see droppings in the cupboard but tonight I saw one run across the floor in the bedroom. I hired a major reputable pest control firm who laid poison and traps in the kitchen behind the cupboards but this is just a step too far. I hoover and clean each day to keep them at bay but it doesn't seem to of made a difference. Doing it alone is hard. I want another adult to chat to about it who also lives here. I currently have an ongoing leaky roof as well and just feel a bit like I'd really like to catch a break now tbh. 😅🥺 no parents on the scene to help re house problems either.

I used all the different traps in the world. The only thing that made a difference is getting a company to do mouse/rat proofing. Closing up all their entry point is the only thing that worked for me after 2 years

I fek for you I had them in my loft.
Took 2 weeks to get rid of them after poison.
Could you afford a cheap hotel if your struggling to stay there.

Get a pest control company to come and help you.
You can have a drain survey done where they find out if there is a place where rats are getting up from the sewers then that can be repaired.
You can use traps with bait ( no poison) in house overnight but it’s tricky if you have dog or children.
any holes or small gaps around your house need filling properly to prevent entry.
its a horrible problem to have, I hope you get it sorted.

Check skirting boards for holes or gaps and fill.
Check the backs of kitchen cupboards for holes around pipes and fill with expanding foam.
Stop feeding birds. Bird food attracts vermin.
Check loft space for gaps and nesting.
Walk around outside looking for the tiniest hole in air bricks and block them.

Don’t take food or leave dirty plates in bedrooms or elsewhere in house.

Get the pest controllers back.
Have faith that you will get rid but it takes application and can’t be done half heartedly. Keep at it.
