Literally just what the title says I'm a lone parent to a three year old (nearly 4) and one year old. My 3 year old does go to nursery two morning a week. But he's such a winger and moaner constantly nagging. I love him to bits but I'm so drained by him. I can't do the dishes without him crying he wants to help. I can't open a door without a tantrum that he wanted to open it. I'm so exhausted and feel like I'm always telling him off. I m so completely drained. Just wanted to here anyone else in the same situation really

My Grandson was like this.. he had to open the doors.. put light switches on.. press the bell for lifts.. press the bell for the bus to stop.. shut the washer/ dryer/ dishwasher door etc etc.. he was diagnosed with Autism age 4.
But all children want to " help" perhaps involve him in doing the dishes? Bake with him? Do crafts? Engage more?

I agree with the above. Involve him where you can and then he will appreciate that he has done his part and would probably get bored after 10 mins and wonder off.

My DD is a teen but I have pics and videos of her helping with the cooking by “holding the carrot for mummy” or “loading the washing machine”or “here are 3 of your unbreakable plates mummy has washed can you dry it” whilst I’m cooking “can you turn the dough into balls for biscuits” - very small things. You will find he probably doesn’t want to do it for ages anyway. Or would be happy to do one thing repetitively.

I would also avoid seeing it as negativity and more a want to help. My DD was a crier and it was very annoying.

As a lone parent I have found myself bringing my daughter into many of the things I do (even if it takes an extra 10 minutes).

The good thing is they grow up and change.
