Booked a holiday - mad moment?

Decided we need some sunshine in our lives so booked a weeks holiday to Turkey in May. Anyone got any top tips for taking a 3 year old away alone? We're going back to a resort we went to with family last year so familiar with the layout etc. After an almighty tantrum last night I'm starting to wonder if I was having a mad moment when I booked it.

I don’t have any tips for going it alone with a 3 year old but I think it’s great you’re going back to somewhere you’ve been as it makes life easier knowing what facilities there are etc and how it’s all laid out. We love Turkey and have been many times over the years.

Of course it wasn't mad. A week away with your little one will be lovely and making memories. Yeah they might have a tantrum, but they might at home together.. they're 3.

Have a lovely time x

Aw, you will have a wonderful time! I have been a lone parent from day one (DD is 25) and always had time away with her. Turkey was one of our favourite places. I'd say don't plan too much. Be as relaxed as possible. DD remembers all our time away and has asked me to go away with her this year so, although I cannot abide the expression "making memories", I get the sentiment.

Sounds amazing! I think once you’ve got the travel sorted, the rest will be easy.

Take the day off work before you travel so you can get the house nice and tidy, bags packed and clothes laid out to travel, hand luggage as ready as possible. It makes day of travel so much easier if you don’t have much to do. Also get an old mobile phone charged and loaded up with lots of downloads from CBBC, which sorts out inflight entertainment.

A Trunki might be a good idea so DC has their own luggage and something to sit/ride on at the airport

In the airport locate the kids free soft play area - it’s good to use up energy before getting on the flight.

In Flight entertainment: take a mix of new and favourite activities. Usually I take a new comic, a wipe-clean maze book, some books to read, a jigsaw in a plastic bag, favourite teddy.
