Return to work

I am planning to go back to work once baby is 6 months old (24 weeks pregnant at the moment).
Currently I work full time, but looking at my child care options, I essentially can't afford to pay for a childminder 5 days per week so that I can work full time, I just don't have that amount spare after paying mortgage and bills.
How on earth do people work out what to do?!
Is it better to work part time and receive some benefits? I am not entitled to anything apart from child benefit as far as I am aware as I have a mortgage.
Would appreciate hearing how other single mums worked out what to do...

Apply for universal credit. You are entitled even if you have a mortgage. They pay 85% of your childcare costs

I get help towards childcare through uc. I pay £680 and they give me £540 ish towards it. I work full time and get around £800 in UC
I rent so get help towards housing. The work allowance is higher if you don’t need help towards housing costs.
I took 10 months off and a month of annual leave. It accrues whilst you are on maternity too so maybe reconsider only taking 6 months
