Am I being a bit precious and silly to feel hurt by this?

Please feel free to tell me if I am!

My DS lives half the time with me and half with his Dad, mx XP. XP is in a serious realtionship and due to get married shortly. They live together and XP's fiance I know she looks after DS a lot and he has a lot of affection for her. I'm quite happy with that, I had a horrible stepmother and am glad they get on so well (but that's by the by).

Anyway, when I picked DS up fron nursery yesterday, he presented me with two pictures, one for Daddy and one for Y (Y being name of XP's partner). Nothing for Mummy though.

I absolutely didn't make anything of it in front of DS and its probably just an oversight but I really did feel hurt.

Am I just being silly and over-sensitive? Please be honest!

I know what ypu mean, I get stuff like this all the time & dds have started coming home from their Dads and diving in the house for a hug with my boyfriend

It does hurt but I know its not delibrate

Thank you for understanding Nymphadora! I know it isn't a deliberate attempt to be hurtful - just made me think 'Hoy, what about ME?! Im the Mummy here!!'

Yeah exactly what I feel

Looking thru mummys eyes it is hurtful. Through childs eyes is not - he did 2 pictures for 2 people in his life!
imagine you ringing a friend for a chat tonight and another friend gets hurt cos you didn't phone her straight after? That'd be daft wouldn't it/ Cos she will get a visit/text/call another time?

1sue1 · 05/02/2008 13:59

oh and I bet ex and the gf don't get the brunt of his bad behaviour either cos thats mummys job!
It is in my house anyway..I see it as a compliment that home is the safest place to let it all out.

Yes, that's how I try and look at it 1sue1!

Good point about the phone call as well. It does help to look at it that way as if it's a compliment.

My sis and I remember being on my best behaviour at Dad's cos I was too scared to be otherwise so you make a very good point
