Can I be a lone parent SAHM?

This might be a very simple question but I'm in a bit of a pickle at the moment and not thinking very clearly.

Myself and DP are seperating and I am currently a SAHM who is about 4 weeks away from becoming a registered childminder. (just waiting for CRB check to be returned)

I really enjoy being a SAHM and would hate to have to have to change things because of the situation between myself and DP. I'll happily still do childminding but I will have to move to a new house (not sure how I do this as we have no savings etc).

Providing I find a house and get set up there. Will this be workable on my own do you think? Will I be able to support us both on a childminders wage rather than have to go out to work full time?

yes. My new childminder has been a lone parent for years and she lives off of her childminding money very well!

You get some benefits still (income support) but they ignore 2/3 of your income as a CM I think - so if you earned £90 a week, they would only count £30 as income and then you get IS on top.
