UC and wraparound childcare

Does anyone know if the UC support for childcare costs covers school age children attending breakfast/after school club?

I had to reduce my hours when DS started school in September. Nursery ran 8-6 which was perfect, and now I can only work 4.5 hours per day while he's in school, so my earnings are massively effected and I'm struggling to make ends meet.. I can't work out if it would be worth footing 100% of the bill for wraparound care so that I can work more hours?!

Then add in half terms and summer holidays, I honestly don't know what to do Sad

I get 85% of after school club costs for my primary age DS and I’m fairly sure they’d cover breakfast club as well. I think that’s a standard percentage so hopefully you can work out your costs fairly accurately from that.

I would contact Gingerbread and speak to an adviser. They will go through calculations with you. But yes UC do pay 85% of childcare/ after school clubs etc.

As long as it is registered childcare provider then upto 85% up to a maximum. You will need to pay up front and then they reimburse you.

What really?! Yeah it doesn't make sense that childcare fees are no longer supported once they reach school age so parents have no choice but to reduce hours!!

I'll seek some advice, thank you all

Do they help with holiday clubs over half term and summer as well?

@DuckPancake

Do they help with holiday clubs over half term and summer as well?
As long as they're registered with Ofsted and the cost comes under the cap, yes.
