What do you do when your sick. Do you just give up and do the bear minimum to survive? Let them go feral.

Feeling crappy and even though there is food in the fridge I just can't drag myself up to cook dinner, supervise bath time and teeth brushing and book reading.

Can I just order a take away and let it all go...

Cereal is more than fine for tea.

LoopTheLoops · 24/06/2021 17:09

Yep I’m not feeling well and I just do the bare minimum! Lie and sleep on the sofa. Harder when they are babies/toddlers.

Bare minimum Flowers.
I used to make sure I always had some ready meals in the freezer to keep us fed.

Ted27 · 24/06/2021 17:14

yes you can order a takeaway and let it go

How old are they? Will it really matter if they don't have a bath or read tonight?
I've been fortunate to never have been really ill until my son was big enough to shove a ready meal in the oven. I got out of bed long enough to make sure he got off to school, then went back to bed. My parents did come to stay for a few days a couple of years ago after I'd had surgery.
Otherwise I just lie on the sofa and moan until he gets me a cup of tea.
hope you feel better soon.

Yep - order a takeaway and stick a film on. Going without a bath for one night won't hurt. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

I spent 10 years as a single mum with 2 young kids.
My tips:

If they are old enough, they can cook
If they are young enough, they will survive with toast and/or cereal.
If you can afford it, get a takeaway and enjoy it.

Hope you feel better soon!

How old are they?

iPads, Disney, and take away. It's fine.

I remember my mum often being ill when I was little. I loved it, I'd get to skive school, we'd watch films under a blanket all day and then have chippy dinner.

It's fine, they won't get scurvy or fail their GCSEs over a few sick days.

Cereal/toast for dinner, play audiobook (from YouTube or Spotify) instead of reading and get on CBeebies or family friendly films while you lay down. If you’re close to any family/friends get them to video call the kids and do some virtual babysitting. Bare minimum of housework (dishes only). The kids can survive without a bath for a night Flowers
