Hi,
I have trailed the internet looking for any guidance but can't seem to find anything..

Does anyone know if I can get any help with my dd's university fees .. I work 16 hours a week (due to having younger children) my daughter is off to university to do a nursing degree & I wondered if there are any grants for her to claim due to my circumstances?

We are looking at applying for her loan so trying to work out what she will need,

Thank you 😊

The tuition loan should cover the full cost of her fees. She can then also apply for a maintenance loan which is means-tested, if you’re low income she could get up to £10k, depending on where her uni is located.

It has been a few years since I finished uni and I don’t know exactly how nursing works, do they still give grants for healthcare-related degrees?

She’ll get a tuition loan which will cover all of her fees.

She’ll then get a maintenance loan of about 9k if your household income is below 25k.
For nursing there are bursaries available of between 5k and 8k and students can also access bursaries from their university

I did my nursing degree over 20 years ago so very different to now. But what I did do (and I've known students do it now) is work agency as a support worker it was great for learning but also a reasonable wage. I struggled to work much when on placement but could work more during holidays /academic times. It's hard to have a job in a shop etc when working placements hence why students work agency. If you get in with nhs professionals there's always going to be work.

You won’t get any help with her fees as nothing is paid to you, but she might.

She will get a maintenance loan based on your household income though. If you earn under a certain amount, she’ll get a full loan.

She should be able to get full student loans, DD done all paperwork herself, I just had to provide details of my income and fill out form online after she done hers.

Loans are in DD name, they covered tuition fees and help with her rent as Uni was far away

Hi, I studied nursing but it was 8 years ago now.
Again I don't know if it's different as I done a diploma course but the course was 100% NHS funded. No fees.
We got a monthly bursary of about £400 to use for rent, bills and food etc. Luckily I lived in student digs on the hospital site so managed and picked up some shifts as a HCA to make ends meet xx

My daughter will be applying for nursing and we noted the bursaries, she is also considering the apprenticeship degree, the info isn’t clear on that though, I believe it’s over four years they complete the same course however are not saddled with debts.
