18 month old droopy, no appetite, sleepy

Hi,
Just wanting some advice on my 18 month old. Since Thursday (3 days now) she has been very droopy, her eyes are droopy and she has bags under her eyes, she has had a huge loss of appetite, turning down almost everything she's offered as well as some of her favourites. I've tried giving it to her in different ways but just isn't interested. She's also just wanting to sleep a lot, seemingly something constantly bothering her, also very affectionate, not wanting to be far from me and constantly wanting her dummy. Is this something I should be worried about? Should I be contacting GP?

Call 111, and possibly take her to A&E immediately!

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 19/07/2020 10:54

I think you need to take her in to be checked

MadamShazam · 19/07/2020 11:00

I would call 111 aswell and get her seen as soon as you can.

Somethingorotherorother · 19/07/2020 11:01

Since Thursday!? 4 days of your child being exhausted, clingy and off her food and you haven't called the doctor? Ring 111 now, and be prepared for a trip to A&E.

Brusselsprouts21 · 19/07/2020 11:03

Ring 111 now. This is not normal

Vinosaurus · 19/07/2020 11:07

You need to get her seen ... today.

Is she drinking at all? 3 days with minimal food is bad, but without hydration could be catastrophic.

OverTheRainbow88 · 19/07/2020 11:08

I would also call 111

Hope all is well

EyeDrops · 19/07/2020 11:13

Definitely call 111, and I wouldn't be surprised if they suggest A&E. Have you checked her temp?

siennamaeb · 19/07/2020 11:45

Hi,
Thank you for all of your messages, she has been drinking a lot but not been filling her nappies as much as she would be. I called 111 and they are going to get an out of hours GP to ring me.
She just looks so tired all the time, it's horrible to see. Her temps have been normal, I have been consistently taking them since Thursday but never been high or low, just around 37 degrees mostly. Her chest and head are hot to touch as well, also woke up to her vest damp with sweat this morning. Managed to get 2 oranges down her this morning, she shows interest in food but when given it she spits it back out.

I would seriously take her straight to A&E!

Mybobowler · 19/07/2020 11:52

I've got a daughter the same age and I would probably take her to A&E in the same circumstances - four days is a long time to have been showing symptoms like this without having been seen by a doctor.

Itsarattrap · 19/07/2020 11:55

I would take her to A&E too. Most are very quiet at the moment.

It may be just a nasty bug but you can’t be too careful at that age.

wintertime6 · 19/07/2020 11:55

I would take her to A&E now. My 2 year old was unwell recently, no appetite, but drinking lots of water, very lethargic. I took him to A&E and he deteriorated very quickly and ended up in intensive care. The one thing I have learnt from that awful experience was that it's really dangerous for a young child who's unwell to be drinking just water and not having any sugars/salts. They can end up with severe electrolyte disturbances which can be serious.

Starlightstarbright1 · 19/07/2020 13:52

Hope she is ok / what has gp said ? If unhappy take her to A&E they are happier to see babies than you sit at home and they detiorate. As possible said babies that age can deteriorate quickly

Did you go to hospital OP?

sylbunny · 19/07/2020 17:02

Has a GP called you back yet? I'm not usually an alarmist but these are all signs you'd normally want treated pretty urgently. If you haven't spoken to a GP please call 111 again

perfumeistooexpensive · 19/07/2020 17:09

I'd definitely not wait for the GP. I'd go to A&E. They can do all necessary tests there. A GP can't do anything on a Sunday.

wintertime6 · 19/07/2020 18:56

@siennamaeb did you get her seen my anyone? My LO ended up having an infection which had spread into his brain, we are very lucky it was caught before it got even worse.
