Child support - what is an acceptable amount?

Hi, my dd's father has never lived with us and now lives abroad. The CSA can't get involved as he's out the country. He's never been much good at giving us money - when he was in the country it was maybe £20 a week/fortnight. I've just worked out what he's sent for the last 5 months and it averages out at £44 a month. This obviously doesn't make much of a difference and I find I'm struggling to make ends meet.

Anyway, my question is... what is a reasonable amount to expect from an absent father? I want to ask him for more, but I'd like a figure to give him on what 'good' fathers pay towards their kids.

Thanks!!

Wowwee!!! some of you are so lucky!
I have 2 children and i am a single mum i get £50 every month for both!! not each !!to pay for my 2 FAST growing children!I have asked for more as my children are 6 years and 7 nearly 8 years old and my daughter is difficult to buy clothes for because she is not the average size 8 girl so her clothes can be more expensive. That money hardly buys anything for them, and what makes me sooo mad is that he has now moved in with someone else and he has 2 kids with her and she only has to click her fingers and he is there straight away with money for things plus he goes out spending on nights out at the pub!!!GRRRR!!! it is very difficult trying to pay for things i cant work due to illness and i cant expect my new partner to pay for my exes kids things(even though he has given them far more than my waste of space ex)

I get absolutely F*ck all.
3 years the CSA have been chasing him and all I get are the bog standard letters, 'We will write again when he starts paying'
HA HA HA HA.
I'm not so bad off as I get Carers for Ds (ASD). Things could be worse.

alllgonebally up it is def not easy being a lone parent but in my opionion it would be slightly easier if i got £1500 amonth maintaenace, i would be able to live in a house i want, which would be better for my kids and life would possibly be slightly better not having to worry where the next meal was coming from,

and she has a dp, prob should have said that, i am in no way jelious, in fact i think good for her in getting that ammount for her settlement ...
