DNA experiences/advice

Hi All

Please do not judge me...

My partner and I broke up a few months ago. As a bit of a "rebound", I slept with someone else a week after whilst out drunk and angry.

Obviously this was a stupid and irresponsible move which I deeply regret, but nothing can change the situation now.

I had slept with my ex and the other guy within 2 weeks of eachother. I did not use protection mainly because I spent my whole life convinced I was infertile. Me and a precious boyfriend tried for a baby for a year and nothing, I've never had a scare in my life and I've never been overly careful using the pill etc. I'm 30 years old.
I am also a friend of the person I slept with, he was an old flame so i felt safe.

Story aside, I'm now 18 weeks pregnant and sadly I can't be sure who the father is.
Both parties know about the situation - my ex would love for baby to be his and is already an amazing dad. The other guy says he wants nothing to do with it and couldn't handle having a baby.

My question is - has anyone had to go through the DNA testing process for this reason? If so, do you have any recommended testing kits, or companies.

I have spoken with CMS who have offered me the option of their dna testing process, which involves the potential father paying over £300.
Because my situation is my own fault and no one else's, I do not feel it's fair to ask either of them to pay that amount of money.

I've looked on amazon and I've found some kits in range of between £10-£20 but I'm worried I won't be able to trust the results being that cheap!

Thanks a lot - any experiences and advice welcome!

If the dna shows they are not the father they will not have to pay cms for the test. I really would not trust the results of a home testing kit. It would be best to use a company recommended by cms.

Forgot to add that the men are responsible for their own fertility so stop feeling it's unfair on them.

They chose not to use a condom.

Their choice in making that happen ended there.

They will have to live with the consequences of that decision and you are not to keep slut shaming yourself about it.

You were free to do as you pleased and did not lie or deceive anyone.

I would use the CMS test. If the man tested is the Dad then you could offer him half the cost.

If the man tested isn't the Dad then he won't have to pay a penny.

I was in the same situation as you are and looked into going though csa but ended up using (thatdnacompany) instead because i was to embarrassed, i could not fault them at all they were fast and very reliable and you get the results online so there is no waiting to get that back by post sure it was a extra £10 if you wanted a paper copy of them too but there tests range from £88-£118 depending how fast you want them back, hope everything goes well for you though the rest of your pregnancy and hope this helps xx
