Child maintenance / financial

Hi all

My husband left me about a month ago and is adamant it's over and he isn't coming back (he left 2 weeks before our first wedding anniversary and four months after the birth of our daughter but that's a different story!)

We have a two year old son and now five month old daughter. I've been onto the CSA calculator and worked out maintenance BUT he already has a 5 year old son he pays maintenance for as it is (yes he left his ex too, I'm sensing a trend)

My question is; will he have to pay me less than the sum I've worked out because he's already paying one of lot maintenance for another child???

Also... I work full time when not on mat leave, but I'll still struggle financially what help is out there for a single full time working mum financially??

Thanks

Housing benefit and universal credit..you will get less in maintenance due to the fact he has a child with someone else.

Yes if she is also claiming maintenance then child maintenance will be split between you both (as it should be)

There is a question on the online calculator about whether the paying parent is already supporting another child/ren. If you answered that, then it would have factored that in to the calculation.

Ah I didn't get asked that, just if he was living with any other children, which he's not he doesn't even has his other son overnight 😬 does anyone have links to this calculator? Perhaps I've used the wrong one 🤦🏻‍♀️ thanks everyone

Give them a ring they will help you over the phone. Also child support can not be back dated so make the call tomorrow.

As for benefits. It depends on your income. It is now universal credits. There is an housing element if you rent. Have a look at the turn2us website this will give you an idea.
