Does anyone have mobility difficulties? If so, do you receive any help?

Hi Everyone, looks like I will be going it alone with my 9 and 12 year old, due to reasons I won't go into at the mo, but basically a separation is on the cards SadI have progressive MS and significant mobility difficulties and I am wondering if anyone knows whether I might qualify for any help just for things like shopping/cleaning? Sorry if this is the wrong board!

It's probably worth a look at your council's website or referring yourself to a disability social worker as a starting point.
I've got RRMS amongst other stuff and someone suggested the disability social worker for me. I don't need it but it might be appropriate for you.
Good luck.

Check out the disabled parents network. They will be able to give you some advice and sign post you on to the most appropriate support

Thank you so much both of you. Looks like I can apply to adult social services in my are. Unfortunately, the disabled parents network has ceased Sad

Do you get Pip? This can help with things like cleaners, gardeners etc.
Your children may be classed as young carers and therefore could get support through your local council carers service (mine offered an adult social services referral as part of the assessment).
Have you had an OT /Physiotherapy assessment my OT has provided me with equipment, helped me apply for a grant for mobility aids and is able to refer on to adult services.
I have struggled getting help because of budget cuts and therefore often have to wait (currently on a waiting list for stair lift and wet room conversion which when I get it done will be 18 months from applying therefore if you think you may need support down the line get applying now!)
