Hi I am soon to be a single parent and looking for some advice from others who may be in a similar position.

I work full time and have my own mortgage and earn 25k a year. I am afraid I may not be entitled to any financial help. I have entitled to and it says I am only entitled to child benefits (£20 per week). With the salary I am I will struggle to pay all my bills and any extra help would be so reassuring. I live in Northern Ireland.

Hopeful for some reassuring advice before I speak to citizen advice.

Look at the online calculator.

It should help work it out. Make sure you claim maintenance from dad.

Do you have childcare costs? If so you're likely to get something on that salary

How many children do you have? Have a look on entitledto.com and you should be able to work out what you will get.

I earn similar to you, have two children and receive tax credits.

Have you agreed child support from your child's father.

Universal credits aren't as generous as tax credits sadly. But your stbeh needs to be paying his way too. Go to the cms website and calculate what he needs to pay.

Unfortunately you exceed the requirements for UC for help. I get about £40/montg and I earn more than £6000/yesr less than you so I'm sorry you won't get any help from them.

What does your soon to be ex earn? If you look at the CMS calculator it will tell you how much you are entitled to for your children.
