Reported to social services...

Just to say

I was maliciously reported to child services today. On receiving the report they immediately called me. I calmly explained & gave context to the report made by my ex. Which was based on spite not evidence of neglect.

However I am glad he finally reported me. He's used it as leviridge & blackmail for too long, finally he can see the system works, there is no case. I am a great mum.

Child services are taking no further action.

If you ever or are on the receipt of this type of threat trust the system. I was allowed to finally have a voice, they listened and the truth was believed.

Its great that you spoke to a good social worker but it isn't always the case.

Graphista · 23/07/2019 18:12

That was my experience too.

Personally I think those proven to have made a false report need to face some kind of consequences. Especially if they do so more than once. What I'm not sure.

It's an appalling thing to do to a child or their parent.

Someone did this to me a few weeks ago but the caller refused to give a name.

They called me the next day and didn't even open a case.

I can no longer trust anyone now.

I had the same experience as you except it was anonymous and not my ex.

helpconfused · 26/07/2019 13:50

I had exactly the same. Closed as malicious on the same day!
They refused to tell me who at the time but it was later confirmed it was 'the father'

We had a neighbour report my mum years ago, they spoke to mum and our schools. I was really embarrassed as I was pulled aside by my guidance teacher and asked loads of questions. However nothing more came of it, and we learned that some of our neighbours did not like us one bit. They told us it was them.

I don’t think it’s bad to be in contact with social services. I’m in contact as one child is disabled, and although they are not there out of someone complaining, they visit and check as part of his assessments. I’m kind of glad that someone official knows what goes on in my home, it gives me a sense of being open and unafraid.

They could even help OP. I asked mine for advice as it’s stressful and I want to be the best parent I can. Like support groups for single parents or those with emotionally abusive exes.

This happened to me and unfortunately it wasn’t a good experience
Like yours, they wouldn’t leave me alone for months despite having proof it was malicious. Thank god they finally left but the assessment took months! Still never found out who did it and why.
