Hi there,

I am desperately wanting to do something with my daughter (19 months) in the Uk this summer, but everywhere I've looked seems to be aimed at 5+. Or not really be a single parent type holiday 🤔

Abroad is not an option as a) I can't face a plane journey with a 19 month old and b) I need to get her passport sorted (abusive ex, court ordered name change, long story), and I just don't think I can handle the stress.

Has anyone been on any good Uk holidays with a similar age? Or shall I just suck it up and camp out in the back garden?!

we went to st albans with one dc around that age and it was lovely. we stayed in a b&b near the centre of the town, and there was lots to do with the younger ones (feeding ducks in a huge pond, playpark, splashpark, looking round the market, a farm etc). it's also a family friendly place, when we went there was a large patch of astroturf set out with children's toys in the centre of the town, and kids could play there for free. lovely place x

Thanks for the reply, and the recommendation. St Albans isn't actually very far (in London), just fancy a change of scenery and some time away... would you mind sharing the place you stayed at?

Thanks again!

There is a centreparcs in Woburn forest (milton keynes). Getting to MK is really easy from London (30min train ride from Euston) and it’s then a fairly short taxi ride. They have a lot of stuff for kids and you can take her to Gullivers Land / Willen Lake’s splash park on the way back.

I think we stayed at wren lodge bnb (i hope that's right!), we came via london and it was really easy since there is a train from st pancras to st albans city x

Thanks sleep, I am checking it out now.
And also thanks teddy, just a bit worried about the journey there, with the amount of stuff I would have to carry. Or am I overthinking it??

You’re over-thinking. I know people who do it as a daily commute in rush-hour with a baby. It’s fine.

no worries, let me know if you need any other details x

Isle of Wight is fab for young families. Easy to get to even if you don't drive - you can get a straight through train ticket to somewhere like Sandown or Shanklin.

Butlins resorts do small child specific holidays too.

Seaside! Mine loved the beach at that age. So much to explore and it's relatively safe. I'd book a B&B for a few nights somewhere not to far away. Alternatively there are holiday parks and a stay in a static caravan - but we found them more expensive.

I went to centre parcs albeit with family but I would without a doubt to back alone. You get a high chair and cot in every lodge. I walked around a lot on my own with my then 10 month old and it felt really safe. I went to Woburn.

A haven caravan might be a good idea. Most have on site swimming pool, activities and entertainment
