Cafcass Section 7 report meeting tomorrow

Hullabalooo · 27/05/2019 22:00

Just that. I'm so stressed about the two hour long meeting with them tomorrow and that they'll increase access to EA ex and dc despite years of hell given that he's intent on winning and charm personified.

Any tips or messages of support gratefully received! X

Suggested my allegations were hearsay, that dc need to go more to ex, disregarded the safeguarding issues around handovers and implied that I was lying but also mentioned possible issues with ex to cover their backs.

What they've offered isn't a workable plan and there are no specifics about times and plans.

Plus lots of statements like at present and currently leaving door wide open for ex to take me back to court.

Having to go through report to create a list of errata so I can follow this up with Cafcass.

I'm sorry to hear it didn't go well.
How are you doing?

NeverTwerkNaked · 12/06/2019 16:13

I'm so sorry hullabaloo. I don't think Cafcass are fit for purpose.

NeverTwerkNaked · 12/06/2019 16:16

I raised a safeguarding concern about my son. There is proof it happened and that it could have killed him. Cafcass are recommending more contact with dad. Dad doesn't even take up the contact he does have and just deliberately risked my son's life. My barristers view is that they are blind to middle class abuse and that there is an increasing trend for them recommending more contact when mums raise even proven safeguarding concerns.

My advice to any friend now would be don't expect a court application will protect your child, it is likely to leave them in increased danger.

IndieTara · 12/06/2019 18:54

Cafcass are hell to deal with and def do not have the child's interest at heart

Hullabalooo · 12/06/2019 19:05

I'm in bed.. just done in with it all. So exhausted.

Often middle class abuse is emotional or coercive and they can't measure that in the same way so it just becomes 'speculation'.

That's exactly it Hullabaloo. I wish I knew what to say but I feel totally let down too.

Hullabalooo · 13/06/2019 22:30

Rubbish isn't it. I was at a DV charity for support today and the person helping me said she'd not once had a woman going through court with DV issues who had had a positive experience with Cafcass

That's what my barrister said too hullabaloo.
Did she have any helpful advice?

Have spoken to a family friend this evening who is aware of major concerns among judges and other child safeguarding professionals about how Cafcass operates and how they are far more focussed on cutting costs than safeguarding children.

I have to disagree with some as the cafcass at my hearing listened to everything i said put me in a room away from my ex, and did everything to protect my son making sure its all at his pace not my exs like he wanted. I guess its like everything, some good some bad x

itsrainingagain19 · 15/06/2019 12:35

I requested a sec 7 report, just a little concern of the process. The Cafcass Officer still hasn't got back to me in regards to appointments.
Could someone tell when they speak to dc? Is it at home or school. And I allowed to be there and dc isn't very talkative

NooNooMummy · 19/06/2019 22:40

Hiullabaloo - so sorry to hear this. I wish I could say that it will get better but I'm right in the middle of picking apart my CAFCASS officer's failings and have no idea how it'll end...

NooNooMummy · 19/06/2019 22:49

Itsrainingagain - I requested the report too. I took DD to CAFCASS's office. She's 5 so I kept the explanation simple - this lady wants to know how you feel about seeing daddy, you can tell her what you want, she wants you to be happy, it's all about you!
The officer talked to my daughter alone, there were lots of exciting toys in the room and they filled in some post it notes together eg I can talk about my feelings with...Who is in my family... - it all seemed really gentle and DD found it v interesting!
They also contacted her school and her teacher completed a questionnaire that they sent.

Hope that helps!

I'm following you guys as last week I had my court paperwork for the 15th July. Prev DV which he was convicted of. Not seen DS for 18 months. I'm waiting for CAFCASS to contact me for the first step. Shitting it x
