I spend around £300, but I save a little each month throughout the year to make sure I have the money ready for Christmas. I have a 4 year old DS. It was last year I noticed how expensive toys became for his age, this year is the same.

will be quite anit this year, i dont have a set amount in mind but as they get older they get more expensive ds “needs” a ps4 apparently Hmm

I too will probably spend about £300 but dd needs a laptop as one present

Mumshappy · 26/11/2018 11:17

Three DCS 150 approx each plus an xmas eve box each (about 20.00 each) I buy all year round as I dont have large amounts of money spare at any time

Any large electrical stuff ive always gone halfs with my parents so they then get extra presents off myself and GPs from santa. So Dd8 getting a tv/dvd have paid 70.00 towards (in two installments) but she will get lots of extras that way from me and them. Ive done this with mobile phone in the past with laptop for dd14

I don’t have a set amount . One year main present was a guitar but other a games console . I don’t see the point of spending an extra £50 just because that is a budget

SlightlyMisplacedSingleDad · 27/11/2018 13:47

Hmm...probably too much, if I'm honest! Anywhere between £400 and £700 for each of my two daughters. But the important thing here isn't to compare amounts - everybody's circumstances are different. Never throw yourself into debt in order to hit a certain amount that you think you 'should' be spending. A couple of thoughtful presents is worth more than any number of expensive but not terribly personal presents. And your kids will appreciate whatever they get.

Santa 🎅 really only has enough room in his sledge 🛷 for one present for every child in the world to get one!! last year he bought my granddaughter wheelies!! the year before a bike!! This year she is hoping that he might be a iPad other years in been baby annabell a dolls house , Lego it’s usually the first big thing on the list. He has only ever bought one present to any of the children in our family. All other presents come from the family and friends. And yes of course new pj’s Xmas Eve!!

This year Santa and mummy are arranging a trip away so by the times all said and done I will have spent £1000 but this is our holiday we usually do one every couple of years and I save up for it the amount covers flights, transfers, hotel, park tickets, spending money and anything we need to go cloths wise etc so I think it's ok. Some people have their annual holiday and Christmas to do so rolling it all into one saves me in the long run. But everyone is different on a non holiday year I probably spend about £300.

donnalouise1977 · 28/11/2018 21:13

About 75 each for my 2. I buy a big present but second hand, for instance I've bought a barbie dream house for £35.

FinallyFree123456789 · 28/11/2018 21:18

I've spent £150 this year. She hasn't asked for a Big present - she would prefer a holiday.
She does have her birthday 3 days after Christmas Day though so I have both things all in one go oops!
