Starting a part time job

Hi all,
I’ve been claiming income support for almost 2 years now, but am due to start a part time job of 20 hours a week , on Friday.
I was just wondering which agency I tell, is it the job centre and they inform the council and hmrc, or do I need to contact them all myself?
Also , I’ve been looking up the benefits “run on” where you can continue to receive housing benefit until your first wage ( I think) does anyone know if this is still a thing and do you receive it automatically?
Just abit concerned about getting behind with my rent as I don’t think I’ll get any wages until mid December because of how the company said they have pay cut off dates or something!!
Thanks

Hey, sorry I don't know the answer to your questions but wishing you good luck! I found single parenthood much easier once I had a job. I do get tired sometimes but it's great to have some adult conversation and has helped my confidence a lot.

Hope it works well for you x

You may be able to get in work benefits, as I do. I have worked since my DS was 11 months old, starting at 25 hours a week, increasing to 35 hours and now 30 hours around my DS school hours.
Yes its tiring but I am so grateful for getting back into work. It's done wonders for me, and my DS and it has also made single parenthood a little easier, though we still struggle due to erratic maintenance payments, so I thank god I have my stable job. It is such a powerful feeling being able to provide for your child. Best of luck x
