Has anyone else had any problems with their landlords? How did you resolve the issue

I would ring shelter about that. The one time we rang them they were really helpful

You could contact your local council to make a complaint to the environmental health team.

They can inspect your property and contact the landlord to ensure repairs are made if they find the property is unsafe.

The landlord is responsible for maintaining the property, which by the sounds of things they aren’t.

Have you formally informed / written to the landlord detailing all of the problems? And asked them to rectify? As a start point I would do that. Send via email or recorded delivery so you have proof it’s sent. Give them a week (state it in the letter) to formally respond. You should give them the opportunity to respond (they may say that they weren’t aware of the issues). If they don’t respond / put a plan in place that you are happy with, get an appointment with your local housing officer to discuss the problems and they will step in and help you.
