Just that really, feel like screaming from the roof top, that I hate it so much, don't want to be a single parent, don't want to be single, don't want to be like this, I just don't frigging like it.
However, am not about to
climb onto the roof in my pj's so shouting on here will do.

So there we are...feel ever so slightly better now.

God Nuts, i really do wish I could find you the perfect job.

NikkiBFG · 12/06/2007 20:41

Aww...really wish I could do something to help...if it makes you feel any better - I'm having a job nitemare myself too! Work have said no to my flexible options request so have to scrabble around for a jobshare partner and look for new roles within company etc.....ughhh!!

NuttyMuffins · 12/06/2007 20:43

Aww thanks emma, any one would do at the mo, perfect or not.

Feel like such a failiure tbh, i mean i don't even get to interview stage.

Saw a job ad today and realised it was a job i applied for about 2mths ago, made me feel shite, as i didn't even get an interview, but there they are re advertising it without me even getting a chance.

Its good that you are making the effort to find a job. I hope you get one you enjoy soon.
I can't even think of any job i would be able to do! but I am happy as a sahm.

NuttyMuffins · 12/06/2007 20:45

Oh i have been whilst my kids were at home Tortoise, mostly anyway, but as ds starts school in sept, there is no need for me to be here in the day and i know i will be bored.

its nothing to do with failure- its bloody hard trying to do everything - as well as trying to find a job to fit in around it all.

So where are your plans at at the moment? are you just looking for work? or something to fit in around a course? ( what happened with the school again?)

NikkiBFG · 12/06/2007 20:47

Nutty - my mums DP had LOADS of probs finding a job before this current one (he gave his job up to move to the town where mum lives) and he went down to the jobcentre and he said that employers are getting ruder and ruder and not even bothering to acknowledge replies etc and the job centre bloke said that is something they are battling with all the time because people not getting at least an acknowledgement is knocking their confidence and putting them off looking for other roles. He also had the prob of jobs he applied for being advertised a few months later as well.... you aren't the only one so please don't take it to heart - its just employers these days being difficult arses!!

tortoise · 12/06/2007 20:50

Nutty I have another year before i have to face that. Still not sure what i will do!

NuttyMuffins · 12/06/2007 20:51

Your right nikki, not getting the replies does really knock my confidence and makes me wonder what the point of applying is. I just cannot understand why I am getting no response. Ok I don't have a huge employment history to go on, but I know i am quick to learn, enthusiastic etc, but am not even being given the chance to show this at interview.

I even got a no for a trainee job at a nursery, which quite frankly i could have done standing on my head. If i gets no's even for trainee jobs then I am at a loss as to where to go next.

The school turned out to be no good emma, they could only offer me thursdays and out of the next 6, i was only available for 1 because of stuff with my own kids school.

Mmm....have you drafed a standard feedback letter that you can send out to them? Makes them think twice about why they said no, you will stick in the mind if something else does come up and its really useful to have - I had feedback when I applied for Grad recruitment (it was like a business X factor and was hell!!!) but the feedback was sooooo useful and worth asking for....

tiredemma · 12/06/2007 20:55

oh right- I haven't been on for afew days. Im still keeping my eyes peeled for you.

NuttyMuffins · 12/06/2007 20:55

No have never asked for feedback.

Last year i applied for a job as a HCA and there was only me and one other person invited for interview. In the end the other person got the job because she had worked in a hospital before and i hadn't. They said that if it wasn't for that i'd have been offered the job and urged me to apply for any other HCA posts that came up.
A few mths later another post comes up, only 2 days a week but foot in the door type thing, and so I apply again, and never heard a single word.

Thanks emma, I did a job search on the NHS site today, but other than the radiography helper one there was nothing, well not in my area anyway.

Just not sure what to do next now. I ned to sort out college if I am still unemployed by July, and there is a whole other saga.

NikkiBFG · 12/06/2007 20:58

Well, at risk of sounding like anal career advisor....I would ask for feedback....its up to you at end of the day though....don't be too hard on yourself though - its tough finding a job these days - I've got a degree and it took me an age to find one after I left uni because I didn't have anything practical on paper so ended up taking a low grade job and then working my way up just to get experience etc etc

NuttyMuffins · 13/06/2007 13:08

Feeling a bit better today, had a good chat with a friend which helped alot.

Did another job search this morning and there was a post for an admin/clerical assistant, right number of house, term time only, great locaqtion, but you needed RSA level 2, and I have nothing like that, and I honestly could kick myself sometimes when I read these ads, but there you go.

Oh and there was a job as a library assitant in a hospital, but you needed an nvq 2 in library and info studies, no where round here even does that course.

Anyway, something will turn up eventually i am sure.

Glad you're feeling a bit better today, a chat with a friend can work wonders.

I've seen library vacancies that require qualifications too. Such a shame you haven't got RSA2 for the other job. Wouldn't they let you learn as you earn? I've got distinctions etc in secretarial quals but its no good to me if the jobs aren't there.

I am now even more desperate to get a job. My car went in for an MOT today and it needs so much done to it.... gonna cost me almost £1000 -the car's not even that old!! I haven't got that kind of money anymore, I really don't know what to do. I phoned the garage and I'm getting the minimum done and they said they'd do a bit for free but it's still gonna be a fortune.

I'd saved up enough for a weekend away with the kids but no chance now. I'm so naffed off with job hunting and not having much money while he's out at the races (last night), going away for the weekend (next week) again, buying new stuff continually....etc etc.

I'll stop moaning now...

NuttyMuffins · 13/06/2007 18:15

Oh no Cat, sorry to hear about your car probs. I don't drive at the mo and tbh if my dad wasn't fantastic at fixing cars I don't think i'd bother learning as they are so expensive to maintain.

Hope you get the car sorted and can still go away xxx
