Hi everyone. I have no clue what to do. I come from UE and arrived in the UK in 2012. After almost one year got played by some guy and got pregnant. he escaped and never heard from him since then. I was on income support for 4 years and now i found work. Spend all my money for childcare haven't even paid rent as was counting on Universal Credit) Now surprise. i haven't pass my habituant residence test. have 2 children one in secondary school, second in primary. And now I don't know what next I used to get child tax credit, housing benefit, income support. Now because I live in Universal Credit area everything go cut. Can't come back to my country as I have no one there, My kids don't even speak my language. Was so happy about the jb now it becomed curse. Sooo tired of being alone and have to deal with all of it on my own.:((((

Falling the test suggests they don't think you plan to make your home in the UK for the time being. Based on what you've said, in surprised at the result. Mistakes do get made, so it may be worth challenging the decision. You can find advice from the CAB at www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/coming-from-abroad-and-claiming-benefits-the-habitual-residence-test/if-you-fail-the-habitual-residence-test/

If you haven't already joined there is a group on Facebook called universal credit essentials (may be abbreviated to UC essentials) which is very good. But face to face support is important too from a suitable advisor.

SlightlyMisplacedSingleDad I was so surprised to hear their decission. I made new claim in the morning and the universal credit ppl told me when I made new claim I can not challenge the old one. After contacting Citizen Advice I was told that's not true so will try do the test again next week with new application and challenge the old decision with Citizen Advice help. Gosh it's so sad that goverment is ok giving money when pp not working and then if they start they are t put down. I don't even relate to my old country as mine anymore I don't go there for holidays, my kids speaks more English even at home. So much headache with all this mess. If I do't pass the habitual residence test here where would I. As in my old country my child is not even registered as was born here.
