Optimum amount of hours to work?

Just thinking as if I go up to 30 it seems I'll only be £60 a month better off. Hardly seems worth it to work an extra 10hrs per week! It works out at about £1.50p/h for the 10hrs...

will it help you move up soon? I'd say 20-30 hours was all in the ideal range. Will you get more on your pension?

Sometimes it's not just about cash in hand per month, it's about showing commitment.

@dupainduvin Sadly not was just thinking about applying for another job that I saw advertised, the position isn't to start till November (checks and vetting can take months). Which is perfect timing following maternity leave.

is it a better job in any other respects, soon? If it's really £60 per month and that's the whole benefit for another 10 hours a week of work, it doesn't sound great.

You might want to have a think about what you want from the next few years at work - a supportive employer when you've got small DC is very helpful too.
