HI I'm looking for advice.... my kids dad has not been allowed to see our kids as he has been beating his girlfriend up and he threw our son against a wall 😡😡 anyway we are going through court so he can eventually have some kind of contact He has made allegations of me heavily drinking and taking drugs which is not true, I think he's said this as he looks really bad in court with over 50 offences and lots of violence in the past (he went to prison for a year in 2011 for beating me up) and the other things I mentioned above. Anyway last time in court we both got ordered to do drug & alcohol test.... anyway I've looked up the place that does it & there are loads of false positive reports by people that have been tested there and plus I would then have to contribute towards doctors records aswel which is over 100 pound! I just think this is all unnecessary & feel like he is back controlling me like he did all the years ago, honestly I lived 6 long years of suffering domestic violence daily! The court appearances with really for him and his problems with drink & violence and I feel he's switching things round into me , like im the bad one!!!The school reports and everything else the courts & cafcass has looked in are great regarding myself & parenting. What do people think the outcome would be in court with me refusing the testing? Do I have rights to decline?

Get two different tests. Definitely don't decline.

NorthernSpirit · 19/12/2017 21:20

Don’t decline - it will look like you have something to hide. It’s court ordered, if you don’t adhere it looks like you’re being obstructive.

As the above poster said, if you are worried about the accuracy of the test, get a 2nd opinion.

and ffs do not eat any poppy seeds/seeded stuff, just in case they have been grown in a warmish country.

RainbowWish · 19/12/2017 22:05

Can you not go to your doctor, explain the situation and see if he can refer you through the nhs to a legitimate place they use?

Debz30 · 19/12/2017 22:16

The courts have chosen the place and it's through legal aid so won't be paid for twice! I've read loads of really bad reviews regarding hair testing, up to 10% of cases have come back false positive! Does anyone know possible outcomes if I refuse? My solicitor is on holiday and then obviously it's the Xmas period & I'm not sleeping with it all! I eat bagels all the time which are full of seeds that can bring false positives! I'm a nervous, on edge person as it is so all this is really getting to me. Thankyou for everyone's responses 👍

How do you know they are false positives?

If you get a false positive, then you will simply HAVE to find the money from somewhere to get another test done independently.

Just stop eating poppy seeds for 3 days prior to your test.

Starlight2345 · 20/12/2017 13:42

I would suggest you don't refuse... It reminds me a bit of the Jeremy Kyle show.. so many say lie detector is false too.. till test drop the bagels if that worries you. there are many more things you can eat/

YouWhoNeverArrived · 21/12/2017 09:35

Don't refuse. Think about this logically. If, as you claim, you don't use drugs, then even if there's a 10% false positive rate, there is a 90% chance the test will come back clear. Whereas if you refuse to do the test, there's a 100% chance that that decision will make you look bad. Just do the test, and then deal with the consequences if it's positive. I must say that I'm not sure I'd trust the negative reviews online - are some of them perhaps posted by people who do use, and are upset at being found out?

If you don't use, you have nothing to hide. Engage with the process.

greathat · 21/12/2017 09:54

And think about who is claiming the false positives...

titchy · 21/12/2017 10:02

I bet your ex is one that would say all over the internet that his positive was false....

Do the test.
