Hello, first time poster and long term lurker. I hope this is ok to post here? I'm a single mum to a 7 year old daughter and don't work due to health issues. I'm finding it very very hard and very lonely, I seem to spend most days in tears. I know a lot of it is due to depression, the main thing I'm struggling with is severe loneliness. My daughter stays with my mum at weekends, I appreciate the break, that's when the loneliness kicks in. I only have one friend, who unfortunately lives over 2 hours away. It doesn't feel, like I have anybody at all to talk too. I just seem to spend most of the time in tears. I suppose I was wondering, if others out there feel the same? If anybody would passably like to chat-text or email etc. I would love to hear from others. Thabks Ali xx

It's incredibly hard being on your own sometimes. Have you been to the GP about the depression?

Are you able to get out at all with your dd? Maybe her being away all weekend is not helping?

I'm a disabled single dad and find myself feeling the same when my two are at their mums. Recently their mums been cancelling her every other weekend with the kids so I haven't been alone for nearly 6 weeks but they should be there this weekend and I know I'll struggle. There is a thread here in Lone Parents were everyones welcome to post whatever they like and recieve support from other single parents. We single parents have to support each other Smile

Have you tried your local MN ? Loneliness is awful , I think we all need human contact and having a friend to share worries with can be such a boost . Are there any mums at the school that seem approachable ?

whereabouts in the country are you? is there anything you could do whilst your daughter is at school or at the weekends to get out and meet some new people? yoga class or something that would lift your mood too?

Or does she have any buddies at school you could speak to one of the other mums and do something jointly? My DD is 8 and I do this quite a bit, sometimes it's nice whilst my daughter plays to have someone to have a grown up chat and coffee with....
