Does anyone else have to chase child maintenance from their ex?
every 2 weeks he pays he has not paid anything over the Christmas period, said he had no money. anyway every other friday he pays but since hes been with his girlfriend (who pays it from her bank)it just gets paid whenever they like.
i hate asking for it i feel like its degrading. anyway around this?

Go to the csa/cms.

smEGGnogg · 06/01/2017 18:42

Yes, go to child maintenance options.

kittybiscuits · 06/01/2017 18:43

Child Maintenance Service. 2 weeks late repeatedly and they will put him on collect and pay. The extra 20% charge seems to help with learning to pay on time almost like a grown up.

i have thought about that but hes self employed. and when we together he told me how his work mate was taken to CSA and got out of paying the real amount something about how he said he wasnt working much and only paid £6 per week for one child. but i knew full well he earned well more than that coz my ex was working with him they was bringing in around 800 each a week

Yes that's a problem then. CMS can't deal very well with tax dodging self-employed fuckwits who don't want to pay the legal minimum for their children, unfortunately. Has he got a mum who you could enlist who would highlight his responsibilities?

Louw12345 · 06/01/2017 20:55

Just been told no payment til the 20th that means he's nearly a month behind. Luckily I have an amazing family that can help in times like these. No she's never been much good, she sees children as only a mothers responsiblity

Honestly? Adjust your budget so you are not depending on his money as he's clearly not going to be reliable. Too many of us know all too well how rubbish some nrp are with this.

Then cms - but you have to be a pest as it's very much a case of those who shout louder being best heard.

Sorry you're having to deal with this.

kittybiscuits · 06/01/2017 20:59

I guess you have to look at how much you are getting and decide whether it's more important to have what he gives you or potentially a smaller amount more reliably. You have my sympathy. It's disgraceful.

Louw12345 · 06/01/2017 21:11

This is it. He really dosent pay much as it is but it is amount we have agreeded on together I couldn't risk it being any lower.

OP posts:
Graphista · 06/01/2017 21:42

You say you can't risk it being lower but if you can't depend on it being paid you're effectively getting nothing anyway!

Louw12345 · 06/01/2017 21:55

He said he will pay what he owes like add 50pound to payments. He's never not paid it back it's just the chashing for it

OP posts:
Graphista · 06/01/2017 22:56

If it's just the chasing and he's willing to pay then he can have no objection to formalising

Louw12345 · 06/01/2017 23:12

Yes that's true
