Is it true that any can claim family allowance and its not means tested?

It's called Child Benefit now - family allowance is a really old term. If you earn above £50k it's tapered, above £60k and you're not entitled (although you can claim and have the earned pay it back through their tax return). For under £50k it's £20.70 per week.

Family allowance doesn't exist any more. It's called Child Benefit and is means tested, though the freehold is pretty high: www.gov.uk/child-benefit/eligibility

Do you mean Child Benefit? If so anyone can claim for a dependent child under 18 in ft education but if either adult in the household earns over 50k pa some or all of it is repayable via a tax return or you opt out of receiving the payments.

I don't earn more than 50k but my ex-partner does. We don't live together. Would I be able to claim CB given that we are separated?
