im a single mum of 2.7 dd. been nursing for 20 years with worlds of experience.
got approached by intensive care at my hospital for a job, i explained that i cud only do early shifts and they agreed to give me part time contract.

2 months down the line, they said to fulfill your contractual obligations u have to start doing nights. baring in mind i have no parents, the only family member i have is my sis in law. but i agreed and things worked out ok,

been through alot this year was off sick 10 weeks after being beaten up whilst my dd was in bed, thank god i held the screams in, coz she wud have seen it if ahe woke.

well now sis in law got a job doing nites, went to manager and asked if i cud have thursday nite permanently off, due to no childcare............ they said no

so for the next 8 weeks i have to find childcare, passing my daughter from pillar to post, with people she doesnt know, jus to comply with them and to keep a roof over our heads.

i wudnt mind, but im a bloody good nurse.

soz jus a bit tearful, did nites last nite and have to pik dd up soon.

well going to union tomorrow, if they want a fight they got one, im making a stand for all single mums like me..

ohhhhh jus emailed Loose Women on tv

soz to moan, im a fighter

I really feel for you, it is such a limitation having no childcare which has been a big problem with any potential career i am to choose.

Its wrong they should be able to do this to you..definately fight it because otherwise your personal life with your dd is going to suffer. Are there any childminders that do overnight care in your area in the meantime?

I'm a single mum to 2 and also a nurse, work have bent over backwards to help me, I'm lucky my parents live fairly locally but I do have child care issues. I'm sure the union will be able to advice you.
