Book to help DD understand co-parenting

DD is 6 and has always lived with both me and her father equally (we split when she was 14 months so has no memory of us together). We are amicable and there has been no drama or trauma of separation and divorce for her to go through, but it still makes her sad nonetheless that we don't live together. Despite being from a similar background myself I don't know what to say to her, because my parents did not get on and criticised each other tome, so I never wanted them to live together the way DD feels.

I was hoping someone might know of a book we can read together which reflects this situation? There seem to be plenty available to help kids deal with the upheaval of parents deciding to live apart, but none where it is from an early age. Any suggestions most appreciated! TIA

We have flicked through books in the library. I just tell my DS that families are different. You can tell her that Mummy and Daddy both love her. I also use examples of other children... I can tell you my DS knew all the kids separated in reception , how I don't know...Where my friend whose DH worked away a lot assumed my DS Dad was at work as it was his life experience. I told my DS we left his Dad as I thought we would be happier living without him.. ( despite him been an abusive, druggy lowlife)

Two Homes is good but might be a bit young. Dinosaurs Divorce is good too.

i think you need to write your own... involve her in it.

start with baby pics, two homes, how it works etc..

if she gets anxious or worried or sad about it you could get this and pick out some of the exercises www.amazon.co.uk/What-When-You-Worry-Much/dp/1591473144

Making our own book is a nice idea - thanks!
