Have you met your ex partner's new partner if they are involved in your DC's life?

I just found out they are both taking DS on holiday (UK) on Friday and I've never met this woman. DS knows her well as she is one of his dad's flatmates. The fact they are together has only come to light today in the context of the holiday although I suspected a few months ago this was the case.

I feel like I should meet her properly now she is clearly very much involved in DS's life especially now there is talk of her collecting him from school next term on the days he goes to ex's house. Seems a bit odd not to?

What kind of relationship do you have with an ex P's new partner if any and how does it work for you?

Well, my ex husband met and then married his new partner without me ever setting

No. I've met her three times, ds barely for a minute each time. Ds wasn't invited to their wedding, and he wasn't told they were having a baby until she was three months old. He lives abroad, has never collected ds from school, only went to see ds in a play because he happened to show up at the drop of a hat and ds couldn't see him (and I bought them tickets). It doesn't work for ds or me as ds feels in the way and unwanted.

That sounds a horrible situation ladysybil. What a piece of work.

had 2 new sisters and a new mummy when he was just 5 years old. ds and step mums relationship is awful, but ds is now a pre teen and couldn't care less about her, other than telling me she makes up stupid rules. By law they don't have to introduce you at all so most don't. Should say all of the above was without my knowledge as ds charmingly got told that it was their secret and nor to tell mummy!!

I really like the girlfriend of my daughter's father. She's not someone I'd hang out with but she absolutely adores my daughter and my daughter adores her. I've spent some time with her as 'ex' and I also get on and I have invited her (and him) to DD's birthday party. I was a bit upset, and cross with 'ex' when they broke up for a bit but they are back together now, hopefully for good. I hope they have children together :) I would happily babysit!

He's vile. He stopped paying maintenance because he felt as though I wasn't grateful Hmm Poor ds though, he hates him. I just hope there hasn't been any long term damage Sad

Mainly positive responses then.. Smile

I have to say I am quite looking forward to being able to communicate with someone relatively sensible for a change, as my ex also falls into the utter tool camp.

inthename I didn't realise that they don't have to introduce you by law. Seems crackers when you consider the time they are potentially spending with each other.

Having said that it's taken almost a year for me to be made aware that this woman is on the scene. I have met her briefly once actually when she opened the door after I had failed once again to rouse ex P from his weed induced slumber to take receipt of DS' overnight bag. Confused
