UK holiday recommendations?

I am after holiday recommendations for the summer for me and DS, currently 5mo. Ideally somewhere where I can have some adult company in the evenings, where I can put him to bed and not have to worry too much, and that has a few places nearby to visit during the day. I am in London, and would prefer not to travel more than 3 hours by train.

Can anyone recommend anywhere?

Hhhhm me too, dd is two ...I've looked at the single with kids/Mango blahdi blah but while I love company in day and eve too-not sure I fancy sharing accommodation..Pie in the sky I know but I think what I want is some kind of B & B accomodation with babysitters on tap-yep, it's not going to happen :0(

A small home-from-home hotel where bedrooms were near enough to hear if the kids woke up without needing babysitters. With a nice evening meal. Not costing the earth. Surely not impossible?

Find a friend to go with. At this age he can sleep in buggy while you have dinner etc.

Small B and B that does dinner ? Look for Owens which say "friendly hosts".....

Look for ones not Owens ...

What about a caravan park - preferably a slightly quieter one that caters to young dc? I always used to go on European camp site holidays when dc were young as most parents put their dc to bed then sat outside the mobile homes being sociable in the evening. Don't know any to specifically recommend to you though in your area, sorry.

I agree with makemineapinot - I've been to Italy and this year going to France to a European camp site and taken one of their mobile homes.

Children tend to stay up later on holiday so I have evening meals with him etc then put him to bed and sat outside with people from neighbouring vans etc. Was really nice. Try Eurocamp
