Feeling guilty for wanting to go out.

I've been a single parent from day one, my dd is nearly one and I'm at the point where Im ready to move on stop being upset about this situation and leave my exs sorry ass in the past. His parents want to start having dd over night, at first I said no because I wasn't ready but now I think I should so first of how should I bring it up again? Should I just ask them if they still want to have her over night or does that sound cheeky? But also,I've been asked if I want to go out by an old flame but I feel guilty for leaving dd overnight to go out on a 'date'. Did anyone else?
Am I being selfish? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think they will be happy for you to bring it up - they could well be feeling they should be supporting you more due to their son being a twat. I would take any support you can get! Everyone needs some time to themselves. I was around the same time the first time I went out, but DD was at home and I was back at 12 (she was asleep so it didn't matter that I had had a few drinks!). Just remember they wake up at the same time! If I had had anyone to look after her for a whole night I would probably have done that. As it is she is nearly 3 and spent her first night at her best friend's for a sleep over about 3 months ago! It was long over due and only came about because I was bridesmaid and went on a hen weekend/night.

It is up to you who you spend that time with. But, having gone out with 2 men briefly since having DD, it is completely different when you have a child. If you can make it a regular thing where you go out without her that might work. If you try to bring someone into your bubble it probably won't work very well - for me at least I found I only had time for her and anyone else was a drain. I'd try to keep the two separate for as long as possible to give any new relationship a chance, and if you ever feel they are demanding too much time from your DC have a real think about whether they are being reasonable. For me, DD comes first and sadly not many men can understand that! In the meantime, be kind to yourself and have fun. Any chance you get to do that should be cherished and will make you a happier mummy as a result Smile
