Advice about the EX husband

Hi,
I am new to mumsnet but need some advice. My ex husband and I have been split up and divorced for a number of years (6 and a half) we have a child together. Our son lives with me and goes to his dads 2 nights a week which is great I have never stopped him from being a dad / father. I have always worked full time and supported my son and myself. My ex husband has never paid maintenance for his son. He is self employed and his business has grown and grown. He declares a very low income to pay less tax and has told me if I ever tried to claim through csa I wouldn't get a penny and he would reduce his earnings to hmrc. I know he's earning a lot he's in a cash business. And as I said his business is growing a lot! He has 4 people who work for him all earning cash in hand. Anyway....he pays nothing towards our son. Well I apologise he pays £10 a week for his school dinners. But that's it. I've asked him to contribute to something else for our son and he's said no. He is now re married and she has a child (not his) that lives with them. I'm feeling a bit unhappy he isn't willing to pay anything extra considering I've never asked and he's never paid maintenance. For over 6 years this has been like this and I am now sick of it. I'm supporting out child alone. And it isn't fair. What should I do? Please help. And thanks for reading.

Contact csa and also the taxman to let them know he is evading. It doesnt matter if he thinks he can do x,y and z, because he has responsibilites that should be priority and he shouldnt be black mailing you.. You need to report because u are aware of crime thats is
Being committed

I have thought about it but I am scared. He made my life a misery when we split up. He seems lovely to everyone else but he is very controlling and scheming.
Thanks for the advice. I have looked online tonight at csa and hmrc so I just need to pluck up some courage.

Definitely go to the CSA. Your son has a right to be supported by his father.
He says if you claim through the CSA you'll get nothing - you get nothing now, so what's to lose??

Contact CSA...By the end of January his tax retrun for this year has to have gone in anyway even online ...

I would try to get proof of any of the above, go to the taxman and provide them with the details. Then a few weeks later get in touch with the csa, and provide them with the proof. This way it could/should look like because they worked out his was dodgey, they worked out he should be paying more too. Then deny it until you are blue in the face to ex. How is he going to prove it?

there is an anonymous contact with the hmrc to report tax evaders. ideally you need to give some concrete evidence and as much detail as possible for them to follow up on. you might like to follow up on that ...
