Hi, I'm about to start a part time, term time job and will be paid all year round. I'm going to take my dd with me as its a nannying job and will need to claim tax credits. Could someone tell me if you need to earn minimum wage? I can either work 16 hours or 30 but working for 30 hours I won't be paid minimum wage it will be less. I take my daughter with me so that's a massive benefit. I also get term time off which is another benefit for me so can I just say that I work 16 or 30 hours all year through as I'm paid? God it's so complicated. Thanks for reading this far.

Oh. I think it's based on hours, but I don't think you can opt to earn less than minimum wage. Not sure though as I worked as a TA and my pay was evened out so that I was paid every month.

I think you need to check with the tax authorities. I've always found them very helpful. Sorry not to be more use, hope someone who knows more comes along Blush

Hi I think that it doesn't matter what you earn its the hours you work iyswim? Therefore you would probably be better off working the 30 hours as then you would get the 30 hour element of the working tax credit if that still exists? There is a calculater which will tell you what you could get if you goohle tax credit calculator it should come up.

go on the tax calculator fill it all in. the last page says 'what if' and then you can adjust your hours to see how you'd be better off
