Feeling guilty.....

I've got 4 children ranging from 13 to nearly 4. My husband left the month before my little one was born and since then he's not really been involved. My little one misses school this year by 3 weeks and being the youngest of 4 she is more than ready for school! I work 3 days a week, when she goes to nursery, and one day she goes to pre-school, but I am seriously considering putting her there for an extra day, so she'll be going somewhere every day as I feel she needs the stimulation. I also feel, having done it all on my own for 4 years now I need the break, but feel guilty that I'm depriving her of that 1:1 time with me...... Any advice would be gratefully received, thanks :-)

Everyone is always their own worst critic! Ease up on yourself, there's no need to feel guilty. It sounds like you're doing an excellent job!

A compromise might be to make an arrangement with the parent of one of her friends to look after each other's girls for half a day on alternate weeks? So you get half a day together 1:1 every week, she gets to play with a friend for half a day every week and you get half a day to yourself every other week.

Don't feel guilty about feeling weary - it's hard work and you've been coping with a lot of it!

Thank you!! A compromise sounds a good idea, only thing is her "best friend" starts school this year and not sure who else I would ask......... It's odd, if she was starting school this year I wouldn't feel guilty, but I don't want to look back and regret it!
