Hate the lack of support

I have just had some bad news and have no one to talk through about how to cope.

It affects my eldest (a graduate) and his future job wise. As a lone parent I will struggle to support him financially but the training course he was banking on has fallen through. He has mild special needs, and no work experience. He can't drive yet and is struggling to learn due to his mild special needs, and I live in a small town with a very limited bus service. I work FT so can't ferry him around if he even manages to get an interview. Volunteering will be tricky especially the lack of expenses to cover his csys, and poor transport from where I live (can't afford to move and live where I do because it is affordable).

I am pretty much fine with being a lone parent until things like this happen. Having no proper support just sucks right now and whilst I can try to support him and help him try to find jobs to apply for, it is so draining.

How do other LPs cope emotionally in times of stress?

Good question!

In times of stress, I usually do all the wrong things! Not eat properly, spend too much money on silly things, spend time trying to arrange nights out etc, spend time thinking about people and issues that are not my main priority and then I don't sleep well.

What I should do in times of stress are talk with the few supportive people I DO have around me, get rest, sleep well, read my self help books and look after myself- hibernate.

Glad I am not alone in not looking after myself Snoopy. Been thinking some really dark thoughts and am not coping at all; sadly I have. 2 options-1 cope, 2 suicide and the later isn't going to solve any problems but my own and is going to cause an awful lot of my DCs so isn't really viable even though it sounds quite appealing.
Most of the time I cope just fine but when I don't, boy I don't.

Well it sounds like the pits for you. Here's a big hug. ((((O)))))

Can you think of some things that you like to do? Can you think of a way to treat yourself, even if it costs a little bit of money? Is there anyone you could reach out to for help at all? A listening ear? A bit of fun? Is there any kind of holiday you could take for yourself to give you a fresh perspective? Any ways to improve your lifestyle to make things easier/healthier/more enjoyable/less like daily drudgery?
