My ex is in Australia and after repeated failed attempts to get money on a regular basis I've decided something had to be arranged that he couldn't get out of because maybe he needed a night out or needed to buy something! So after contacting the CSA I was told I needed to get a REMO which is sone sort of court order, I was just wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on this for me? Thanks

Taurus, sorry I can't help you but I'm in the same boat as well. My ex lives in Spain and I've been thinking of of getting a REMO. I was just told that I need to go to my local magistrates court and file a paper. I just don't know how that'll work though, it's a reciprocal agreement so nothing is guaranteed, it depends on relations with the other country. It's very confusing, I hope you don't mind but I'll be keeping an eye on your thread to see if anyone out there has experience with this. Lets hope we get some answers!

As I recall it's a reciprocal enforcement maintenance order and yes it's something a family proceedings court (the family bit of a Magistrates' court) should help you with.

I had some dealings with these a (very) long time ago, things might be better now but in my day the procedure was rather complicated and differed slightly depending on which country was involved. The staff in the FPC might not be very familiar with the procedure because they are relatively rare and it can be a rather lengthy process because it involves a lot of toing and froing between the court here and the court/relevant authority in the other country.

I'm only saying this to warn you it is not a speedy procedure, not to put you off asking for one. You shouldn't have to work out the complex procedure the court staff will do that.
