If you have a dog and a toddler...

How do you get out for a walk when it's blowing a gale and pissing down with rain? DD is 2.8 and just getting over a horrible cold so I really don't want her out in this weather. She doesn't use the buggy anymore so the only options I can see are that I ask more bloody favours of people or the dog doesn't get a a walk.

Or am I missing something?

I posted on here in the summer with a similar question (I have 2 Dc)

I bought an off road buggy, a rain cover and some sweets. I'd chuck them in there and just go. They were surprisingly good about it.

If your dd is wrapped up the fresh air could do her good. It certainly won't make it worse.

I felt that if I stopped walking the dog when it rained then we were on a slippery slope iykwim. I'd always be able to find a reason not to go.

The other thing I've done is put splash suit and wellies on and make it in to a wet game Hmm. Not much fun really.

Just keep the buggy and insist she uses ( child here roughly the same age and doesn't use either, but if I wanted to gt a couple of miles walk in quickly I would use)- but I haven't got a dog

Just use a buggy with a raincover ( wind and rain proof), and a nice cosy toe/ blankets so they are warm.

If its just raining and not gale force winds I would get some all in one rain gear for toddler and a toddler umbrella, welly boots and let them spend the walk jumping in puddles

Oh and mine are 2.5 and 4.5 so much too big for the buggy really! I imagine many AIBU threads being started about me!

I normally have no problem with wrapping her up but with her chest the way it is there's no way I want to risk it. Looks like the sodding pushchair. Urgh. I hate using it!
Thanks for replying Smile

Yeah - I feel your pain. It's shit. My dog is pissing me off by being under my feet all the time.

I have very dark thoughts about rehoming him and sending the DCs to live with their Dad Shock
