Hi, I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's had a professional / legal opinion on this. What would be considered reasonable access for a one year old? Or in the coming years, preschool age?

Hi there. I would think that at such a young age little and often is better. Routine and regularity will help establish security and feelings of reassurance for both mum and baby. But you need to think about your child as an individual and how contact fits in with the routine you have already established. As your baby grows and his needs change contact can be re negotiated. Good luck xx

There is no legal definition.

As often as possible, but then you need to provide more colour on the circumstances.

HC - you left out the need for the child who has two parents of equal importance to gain a bond and security with the father also.

Some of the factors to consider at this age -

Distance that baby would have to travel for contact with NRP.
Relationship between baby and NRP - has NRP been closely involved/lived with baby up until separation/looked after baby independently.
Welfare issues
Accomodation of NRP.
