Am single mum of three(student).A friend has ask me if she and her two kids can have a holiday at mine for at least a week Hmm.We were very good friends but we fell out when she started bitching behind my back, she doesnt contact if i dont and wants to control me.I was on facebook when she started chating and said she wants to come at my end for a holiday for at least 1 week.I replied that would be lovely but am thinking how can i have her and her kids around for that long,a day or two will be ok but at least a week means it may be more than a week.I am now use to me ,kids and know what to cook but will they like the same things?(i dont have extra to spend)Have anyone done this b4?how did you cope?should i just say no?

I wouldn't do this, not in a million years! And you don't sound like you want to do it, either. Just say that No, it's not actually possible because you realise you have other commitments.

If you do actually want them to come for a weekend, or two days mid-week, then be clear about that, and ask what the reciprocal arrangement is.

Why does she want to come and stay with you for so long, anyway? What are the attractions - and who will be paying for it all? Bless, you sound very sweet Smile but do think it through, and if it's 'No' then say it as soon as possible.

You definately need to say no, i would have reservations about doing this for a best friend let alone someone I am not really sure I like!!! It will be really stressful and expensive, just message her and say two nights max.

Thanks. I don't know why she wants to stay that long, she barely talks to me and reply to my messages two or three days after.I have a best friend with two kids and she comes around for a few hrs or meet in play centre for kids.My sister comes around for a day so a whole week with her will be too stressful I think.

Well, I think that's your answer, then, OP. Just say no.

MissPricklePants · 20/08/2012 21:09

Oh no I couldn't put up with anybody for a week. Say no!

I had a friend decend on me for best part of a week recently after she was burgled whilst her husband was away and she got herself all stressed about being in the house on her own. Our kids loved all the time together, and we got on OK - but it was during term time so I and all the kids were out in the day. I think I wouldn't do it for a week in the holidays unless I had a very large house and planned to be out much of the time. Sounds like she's not that great a friend anyway from what you say.

thanks again,i wouldnt put a friend in this situation unless is an emergency and she hasnt said anything of that sort. At least your friend had a good reason purpleroses .Did she come with kids?My house is a terace three bed house so not that big. Will be ok for a day or two but not more than that.I have not heard anything from her since and she know all my phone numbers, she wants me to contact first as usuall.

My friend brought two kids - I moved my DD in with me and gave her DD's room for the three of them. Was crowded. Yes, it's different when there's a crisis though. If your friend is waiting for you to contact her, you could just say nothing and she'll probably come up with a better plan. Or suggest she comes for a weekend - and have some excuse lined up as to why she can't stay longer.

thanks,will wait untill she contacts.
