a lots happened in last few months with exp, my solicitor has instructed that all contact be stopped between exp and dd6 & dd2, solicitor said they would send him a letter confirming this but usualy when solicitor send exp a letter i get a copy sent to me but ive had a copy this time so im wondering if solicitor might have forgot to send the letter to exp, i know i should just phone and ask (will do it tomorrow)
exp has told me he will not take me to court but theres still a part of me that thinks he will, what would be my first notification of this if he got himself a solicitor would they contact me or my solicitor first, do they just apply to the courts for something if so how long does that take and when will i be notified

all the waiting and what ifs is destroying me, i have cut all contact with exp so ive no way of finding out what hes planning or what he intends to do

any advice is appreciated

If you're in England/Wales, and your ex has parental responsibility, then he can apply to the court for a contact order or even residency of your DCs. He may instruct his solicitor to write to you (via your solicitor) first, but may chose to submit an application without a letter first - the court will send you or your solicitor a copy, depending on the details your ex puts on the application.

I'm surprised a solicitor would recommend that you withhold all contact between your DCs and their Dad without also applying to the court for residency - has this been mentioned at all?

Court papers can be served on you directly or through solicitors. Normally once a court receives an application a date is set in about six weeks for a hearing and your ex would be required to serve court papers at least three weeks beforehand so you (or a solicitor on your behalf) has time to prepare.
