Can anybody suggest Uk holidays that are cheap and easy to get to by car

Hi

I really want to take the DC (3 DDs between 10 and 1) away on a little holiday this year. It has to be in the UK as none of us have passports.

They would be a nightmare on the train so I am looking at driving but don't need to use the car once there.

TIA

where are you located how far are you parepard to travel and what is your budget?

look at caravan park offers

IAmSherlocked · 15/06/2012 14:26

Yes - you need to give us a bit more info! Where are you based? How far do you want to travel? What's your budget? Do you want coast or inland? Cottage, caravan, camping?

I live in Devon and am went to Norfolk last year with them. I was hoping for no more than £200 plus spending money.

Is that even possible?

If you go on holiday in Devon/Cornwall/Dorset you'll have much lower fuel costs so more spending money.

Look at Haven, they normally have good offers

We went not am!

Prefer not camping but anything else is ok.

That budget will be enough if you're prepared to camp. There are some lovely sites in Dorset along the coast and plenty to do there.

We loved this one

IAmSherlocked · 15/06/2012 14:34

Oh, OK - have just seen that camping is not an option. Hmm - the holiday homes at the site I linked to are about £600 per week in high season, so a bit out of your budget!

The problem with camping is I don't actually have any camping things plus I will be on my own with 3 DC so would need to keep an eye on them while I tried putting the tent up, which knowing me would take hours!

You might be able to put together a little tour of Travelodge saver rooms for a few days. There are family rooms available for £29 per night during the summer holidays. The link is here. I've done it for a few days at a time with my 2 DD's and enjoyed it.

Travelodge do room sales every so often and you might be able to get rooms as cheap as £19, though I don't know if there will be another room sale before the school holidays.

Some campsites have little chalets you can stay in - Crantock in Cornwall is one - basic kitchen & two bedrooms, iirc was about £80 for the week.

www.singlewithkids.co.uk/holiday_grid1/robin-hoods-bay/

This is a SingleWithKids holiday in Robin Hoods Bay, North Yorkshire. You'd need to book a private room with having a child so young and that's £65 a person but you might not need to pay for your youngest if he/she is in a travel cot.

So that would cost you £195 (if you don't have to pay for your youngest DC) for a 4 day break in August but you'd need to become a member (about £3 a month).

It might be too far for you to drive or you might not want to go away with other people. Or you might like to have some company and other kids for your DC to play with.
