Good on you! You must be feeling very pleased with yourself. I took my first step of going for a day out to Longleat with my 3 y/o.... next step hopefully a holiday. Any tips?

we went to tenerife only tips i can think of is find somewhere with a great kids club she loved it and it kept her entertained when the weather wasnt so good was dreading a 4 hour flight the most but she was so good and she slept most of the way home

I have been looking at tenerife, but struggle to find anywhere with kids club for 3y/ - where did you go? can i ask who you booked with too.. trying to avoid the dreaded single supplement...

nulnulcat · 26/02/2006 20:23

booked with cosmos and unfortunately got hammered on the price as had to pay full price with her, friend also a single mum went to lanzarote booked flights and accomodation seperately and got a really good deal and her accomodation had an excellant kids club to try the h10 group of hotels as they sound pretty good

my little man is just four and we often do the £9.50 sun newspaper holidays. bit more difficult now hes at pre-school. TBH i prefer to go on my own with him as we do want we want when we want without trying to please everyone. the first evening in the clubhouse is bit strange but i find it quite empowering. we are going to butlins in half term and thinking of going half board - but dont want it to be full of big families - but do beleive its only a problem if you make it one. we went to greece last year and had a ball.

pinkmamma i am taking him to longleat on sat have you got any tips of dos and donts. or anything i should take that i might not think of. thanks so much.

wheretogo · 27/02/2006 19:24

mysonsmummy - longleat was fab. it actually rained the whole time we were there but we had great time. i think they are offering a discount if you buy passport tickets on-line before end feb..... if you're quick!!

so, we actually spent almost two hours going through the safari - you can pull over anywhere and other cars can pass - we stayed absolutely ages with the monkeys!! TIP: take some bananas in the car!! not for feeding them, but my DS put a banana up against the window and the monkeys came on the car to have a look.. little bit mean i suppose but they are well fed!
i would take some snacks and drinks in the car with you too and make sure you go to loo first - there is one at the beginning of the safari tour near the shop on the left hand side.

postman's pat village was closed. the petting zoo thing wasn't up to much (but it was absolutely pouring). the train ride was nice. the bat cave thingy was quite good... thats all we had time for.

oh, and don't know if you can get away with it but i had DS in his car seat on front seat next to me, you are supposed to pay for aged 3+ but i just said one adult and they didn't question it.. he is not small either.. just say this is his birthday treat if they ask!! big saving as it is quite expensive and i reckon they should discount lone parents anyway

have a fab time

nutcracker · 27/02/2006 19:32

Good for you, would love to take my kids on my own one day.

nulnulcat · 27/02/2006 19:44

where is longleat? dd is crazy about postman pat and that village would be the best thing ever as far as she is concerned
