Job interview! Help!

I have a job interview at a nursery on Friday. If I get the job it'll be perfect. Ties in with school, term time only & I won't be doing all week. Do you have any tips on interviews? i.e. What to wear? Anything I need to say or questions to ask?

wear something that you are comfy in........and throw a question back at them like, what do you see as the good and bad points of working for this company?

are there any opportunities to undertake furhter training?

good luck..

Wear something smart but practical. Shake their hand and introduce yourself. Sounds obvious but if you have a trial - which any good nursery should offer you, don't forget to interact with the children, use your initiative and wipe their noses with a tissue!! Think of a few questions to ask - research the nursery before you go (if you havent already) ask about the routine of the day etc. Be passionate about children and caring for them. Ask them what your role and responsibility would entail and what training/career development you can expect. Good Luck! any qu's just ask! Where is the nursery if you dont mind me asking?

If you get stuck and can't think of any questions to ask them or they cover everything in the interview, when they ask if you have any questions, tell them you did when you came in but they have done such a great job of covering everything they have answered all the things you were thinking of!

Be prepared for tricky questions like 'What are your weaknesses?' Think up some before the interview but pick things that are actually strengths ie 'I don't like leaving a job when it's home time if everything isn't finished and in order', 'I'm a stickler for punctuality and often arrive too early', 'I'm a perfectionist and have to have things neat and tidy so am in the habit of reorganising things at work'.

I was always taught that the way to answer a question on your weaknesses is to say something that you've overcome - eg - I've learnt to be more patient with people who aren't as assertive as me in getting their point across, or whatever.

Had a job interview recently when they asked "how do you like to be managed?" which wasn't one I was expecting.

Was also on an interview panel for a post at work at while back and we asked all the candidates what they had to offer us, and all of them failed to answer. They all told us why they wanted the job, not why we should want them. That's a question I think it's worth having an answer ready to.

Definitely have some questions ready for them - you can ask them about their ethos, and hopes for the future for the nursery, etc. And try to slip in something positive about the nursery whenever you can.

And let your enthusiam come across :)

Good luck!
