Holidays alone?

Hiya girls and boys. Had a quick search down the page for posts about holidays abroad.

How do you single parents manage to go away? My DD is 15 months, and I want to take her away in the summer, Spain probably.
But do big holiday companies take single parenthood into consideration? I had a brief glance at First Choice and they do a great kids club and creche that sounds ideal for DD, but will I have to pay a big whack for single supplement?

The actual holiday itself will be fine, Im looking forward to taking her on my own, I can manage every day so Im sure in the sun wont be a problem!

What Im after is any companies you may have used in the past? I dont really want an all single parents holiday, I just want to relax on my own with DD.

Thanks in advance

I think your really brave, I would be terrified to take my DS abroad on my own. Thats why my mum is coming to Spain with us this year

What about trying Thompson auctions I looked through and can't see anywhere that says it must be two Adults, it just says 2 people but it might be worth looking into.

welshboris · 14/01/2006 17:43

Thanks a lot. Ill probably just pay the single supplement.

Famous last words!!

Did a quick estimate online, and if I take her after September when she will be 2, it will cost me nearly £900. They charge an adult price for her. And if I take her before that, and pay a single room supplement Im struggling to find anywhere.

I want a package holiday, with Thomson or First Choice, with kids club and near the beach, is that too much to ask??!! My friend would like to come with me, she has a 2 year old son, and if she did it would cost the same as if it was just me and DD, with the free kids place. But I really want to go just the two of us.

What a nightmare!

WB - you can have a week at this hotel for £252.77 and flights from Bristol are roughly £250 for both of you. Transfers £25 e/w pre bookable here

Other Hotels:

£376.86 - pre booked taxi would cost £25 e/w

£255.91 pre booked taxi = £17 e/w

I'm not going abroad this year but love looking for holidays so if anyone wants any help finding ideas I don't mind looking

welshboris · 16/01/2006 13:30

Thanks bubblerock, the hotels look fab! And so cheap, I dont mind it not being part of a package, it has a kids pool and play area in one of them anyway

Thanks x

That's ok wb - here's the link to the site where I found them medhotels There are absolutely tons of hotels on there and they give you the whole price in the listing, instead of letting you go through the whole process and then adding £500 in supplements! just make sure you are able to get flights first and also look at how far they are from airport so you don't pay too much in transfer costs
