Child Maintenance - wwyd

Ex left in January. He is now married to someone else. He has completely abandoned his dd (she?s 4) in every sense of the word.

The thing is I?m in Ireland, he?s in the UK. He has not paid any child maintenance since early in the year. I have gone through the UN Convention for Maintenance abroad which came to a standstill ? don?t know why, something to do with legal aid or something. I have now reapplied through the Council Regulation (EC) No 44/2001. I don?t have much faith in any of these fluffy agreements, but at least I can prove to my dd when she?s older I tried every avenue. Just to add, I have his address, national insurance number, work address etc. It?s just so frustrating. I?m really struggling financially now with all the cuts which have been implemented here.

My question is what would you do? Would you swallow your pride, boost his ego and contact him asking for child maintenance?

Any help? I think contacting him even though it sticks in your throat is a good idea . Likely it will get no where but it adds to what you can tell dd that you did all you could.

And you and dd will get through this- my dad didn't pay anything either - me and my sis did ok but I do appreciate what my mum did for us.

Thank you Gigondas. No not at the moment. It's just so frustrating. I have started proceedings here in Ireland (last May). It just seems to be taking forever. Like how hard can it be to enforce when they have all the details.

I've decided not to contact him, he would just say ignore me as he did in the early days. Hopefully the legal process will grow legs. In the meantime, I'll just struggle on. Everyone in Ireland is struggling at the moment, so I'm not the only one.
