How do you cope?

I feel I am just taking care of my son - never mind his dad! - and my ageing parents too - mum, alzheimers, dad died of cancer December 2012, took care of him....

Where did my own life go?!

Been doing this for 20 years, happy my son is at uni, even if he brings home the washing LOL

So tired....

Anyone who can relate, would love to hear from you!.....

Hi , I can relate to you. My dad is 83 with heart failure, and mum is getting a bit forgetful, we think its vascular dementia beginning. When dad was in hospital last january it was hard work, going round every day to mum and taking her to visit him. We thought he was going to die....which caused a lot of stress to all of us.
I am also a single mum, but I have a boyfriend who works away during the week and stays here at weekends. My DD of 21 yrs is home from uni a lot and hard work still.

I constantly think what the hells to happen when dad get really ill again and he dies.
Coping with my very difficult mother is going to be horrible.
I am seeing this period as my breather before he gets ill again...which he will....
If she dies first it would actually be better because my dad is amotionally stronger, less demanding and a lovely man... My mum is a grumpy, angry tempestuous, volatile character.

Hi, I too can feel total sympathy with you.
My dad is 79 and has parkinsons, diabetes and prostate cancer (virtually no mobility)and my mum is 78 and is quite able bodied for her age so does her best but she is registered blind (although has a very small amount of sight).
I too am a single mum of 2 (dd age 16, ds 11) i am my parents main carer and i also work fulltime. They do have someone in every other day to shower and dress dad and have a cleaner and a gardener cos if i had to do all that too i would never cope.

My brother lives over 100 miles away so is never around for their day to day needs so its all on me. I find i am constantly knackered yet find it hard to sleep cos have a constant list going on in my head of things i need to sort/do/get.

My DS is 14, my DD is 4. Both Dads dead. My own Mum has been diagnosed with 2 serious health problems. She Spent several weeks in hospital during the summer. We sorted her house, got it decorated and have been supporting her (emotionally and practically) ever since.

I work full-time and I'm bloody exhausted with it all.....

my heart does go out to you all in that position my mother (whom i surely know made it to heaven) looked after my grand parents ( they lived 10mins walk from us) she worked full time with 5 kids grandad was greatful and never said much as for my grandmother ungrateful and very demanding it used to be a standing joke in the family my mum would say if i ever get old i will try and not be a burden. When my mum died my grandmother was worried who was going to look after her and when granddad died last year she has taken on a live in carer.

I briefly (2 wks compared to you ladies is nothing ) looked after my dad when he was terminally ill its damn hard and exhausting hats off to you all xxxx
